Introduction
In the coming days, the deployment of #5G and metaverse applications will alter the user experience on e-commerce platforms. Also, how the new technology can benefit our lives, from entertainment to smart homes and cars to medicine and education, and what hurdles the government has in adopting #5G.
5G's Impact on Industries
#5G networks will not only disrupt #OTT viewing, but will also bring a #digitaltransformation and network virtualization across sectors, with 100 times the speed and 1,000 times the capacity of today's mobile networks, reduced energy use under a single network to provide a variety of heterogeneous services like #AI, extended reality (#XR), edge computing, and the Internet of Things (#IoT).
#5G opens up opportunities for industry and enterprises to quantify the technology's potential economic impact. According to #PwC's 'The Global Economic Impact Of 5G Report 2020-21,' healthcare applications (projected to contribute $530 billion to global GDP), smart utility management (an additional $330 billion), and consumer and media applications ($254 billion more) account for more than 80% of the economic potential.
Telecommunications and Mobile
Aside from significantly faster speeds, #5G will give somewhere between 20 and 30 times the speed of today. This allows you to quickly launch an application or download a large file. If you are a gamer looking for a seamless experience, telecom providers like as #Airtel and #Reliance Jio may now slice the network for you.
Gaming & Metaverse
The gaming industry is one of the most important testing grounds for telecom service providers. With XR changing the gaming experience where players enter the live environment, there is an immense degree of gaming control for players. Like Pokémon Go 5G AR experience games will change with speed and bandwidth, multiplayer interaction, and fast track locations across devices after 5G.
Home, Auto, Healthcare, and Education
Homes with cloud connectivity across all smart gadgets, appliances, and autos will have real-time data transfer and simple over-the-air software and application updates via cloud communication. Smart TVs that are automated can be linked to smart lighting systems in the home and managed remotely.
#IoT and the Industrial Internet of Things are two sectors where 5G technology has the potential to have a substantial effect. High-speed connectivity will improve the user experience by allowing IoT-enabled appliances such as air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators, and smart fans to communicate and transfer data more quickly in real-time.
Real Entertainment
From #AR shopping, virtual meetings, social camera filters, and an array of brand and enterprise experiments in #VR could converge toward a metaverse. On the other hand, entertainment, music, and OTT videos will have innovative and collaborative use of data. In #multimedia entertainment, streaming recorded #VR music performances could replace concerts/festivals.
#Ecommerce giant #Flipkart is exploring a shopping ecosystem in the metaverse called the ‘Flipkart Metaverse’. The virtual realm will be 100x faster with 5G and Web3.0, allowing purchasers to shop, and select apparel, and footwear as #digitalavatars.
Conclusion
The success of the #5G rollout will depend on the availability of affordable #5G devices since India is a price-sensitive market. Unless domestic capabilities are augmented, there would be increased reliance on imports including from China. This could have national security implications.
